David Abraham

Portfolio Manager

David Abraham co-founded Siena Capital Partners in 2004 and has been a portfolio manager and general partner since inception. David is deeply involved with all aspects of fund management including investment decision making, portfolio monitoring, trade execution and LP relationships. 

In addition to Siena Capital Partners, David has been closely involved in the acquisition and governance of Siena’s sister companies in the community banking space – Monroe Financial Partners and QwickRate.

Prior to founding Siena Capital Partners, David was partners with Dan in a venture fund targeting direct marketing and technology businesses. Early in his career he also worked as a management consultant at Booz, Allen & Hamilton and A.T. Kearney.

David received an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1988 and an MBA from the Booth School at University of Chicago in 1993.

David serves on the board of directors at Unity Financial Insurance Company and is a past board member and president of Evanston Youth Hockey Association.

Greg Dingens

Portfolio Manager

Greg has been investing in community banks for over 20 years as a partner in Siena Capital Partners. In additon to portfolio management, Greg has led large recaps and public and private offerings for Siena portfolio companies.

With over 30 years of investment banking experience, Greg also previously led investment banking at Monroe Financial Partners, Inc., a boutique investment bank that services community banks around the nation.

As a board member and product strategist for QwickRate, Greg has led the development of a suite of analytical and regulatory products offered to community banks through QwickAnalytics, and is also is involved in strategy and product design for IntelliCredit, an online loan review and credit analysis service.

Greg is the chairman of a closed end fund, XAI Octagon Floating Rate & Alternative Income Trust (XFLT), which invests in whole loans and the debt and equity tranches of collateralized loan obligations.

Greg graduated magna cum laude in 1986 from the University of Notre Dame, where he played varsity football. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1992.

Dan Kanter

Portfolio Manager

Dan co-founded Siena Capital Partners in 2004 and has been a general partner and portfolio manager since inception.

Dan has 25+ years investing experience in a variety of microcap and closely-held companies, including 20+ years investing in community banks.  He also led the acquisitions of Siena’s sister companies in the community banking space – Monroe Financial Partners and QwickRate, and serves as the President of Monroe as well as the holding company for these businesses.

Prior to founding Siena, Dan launched a venture fund – Ravenswood Capital – that focused on technology and direct marketing businesses, where he was joined by David.

Dan began his career as an attorney at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw.  Dan earned a J.D. from Northwestern University and a Masters of Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1992 and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987.

Christian Appleby, CFA

Research Analyst, Director

Christian Appleby joined Siena Capital Partners in 2017 to focus on generating investment ideas and conducting due diligence on investment opportunities.  Christian is deeply involved with all aspects of the investment process including investment decision making and portfolio monitoring. Since joining Siena Capital Partners, Christian has overseen investments in over 200 regional and community banks across the country representing transaction value approaching $1 billion. 

Prior to joining Siena Capital Partners, Christian spent five years with Raymond James & Associates in the financial services investment banking group, where he executed over $1 billion of M&A and capital markets transaction value with an emphasis on regional and community banks.

Christian received an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 2013 with majors in mathematics and economics and is a CFA® charterholder.
